DPA Faculty Ju Won Park Receives Dual Best Dissertation Honors
Dr. Ju Won Park, Assistant Professor in the Division of Public Affairs (DPA), has
been recognized with two Best Dissertation Awards at the 2025 American Society for
Public Administration (ASPA) Conference in Washington, D.C. These prestigious awards
were presented by the Section on Personnel Administration and Labor Relations (SPALR)
and the Section for Women in Public Administration (SWPA), honoring Dr. Park’s outstanding
contributions to public administration research.
His dissertation, “Teleworking in the Public Sector: Does It Help or Hinder Gender Workplace Equality?”, investigates the unintended consequences of telework on women in public service. Using experimental methods, Dr. Park found that female teleworkers may face increased risks of negative performance evaluations and reduced promotion opportunities, often driven by persistent gender-based assumptions.
This timely and impactful research underscores the importance of addressing workplace biases and developing gender-equitable telework policies in the public sector.
Congratulations to Dr. Park on this well-deserved recognition!
