Welcome New Division Faculty
We're thrilled to welcome two new Division of Public Affairs faculty members this fall: Dr. Jonathan Fisk and Dr. Ju Won Park.
Jon served as an Associate Professor of Political Science at Auburn University from 2015 to 2024, where he taught various courses and served as the Faculty Advisor to the Auburn University International City and County Management Association (ICMA) Student Chapter. Jon also held leadership roles such as Chairperson of the American Society of Public Administration’s Section on Environment and Natural Resource Administration and membership on ICMA’s graduate advisory board. Prior to his tenure at Auburn, Jon worked as a research associate with the League of Kansas Municipalities, collaborating with local government leaders across Kansas. His research interests include state and local policy adoption, intergovernmental partnerships, and inclusive organizations, with recent studies focusing on compliance, energy/environmental policies, policy conflicts, innovation, and diversity. Jon's extensive publication record includes works featured in prestigious journals and policy blogs. He has been honored with numerous awards for his teaching, mentorship, and scholarly contributions, including the Faculty Excellence Award from the Alabama Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration in 2022 and the College Liberal Arts Teaching Excellence Award from Auburn University in 2019.
Ju Won's research and teaching focus on human resource management and organizational behavior. Above all, he is interested in understanding the roles of managerial practices in shaping the attitudes of public employees and the performance of their organizations. His current research interests include telework, employee performance appraisal, and leadership. His work has been presented at international conferences and published in top public administration and management journals. He received his Ph.D. in public administration and policy from the University of Georgia in 2024 and his Master's in public administration from Yonsei University in 2018.
Prior to his academic career, Ju Won worked at an HR consulting firm, where he gained experience applying management principles to resolve real-world challenges. Seeing the gap between theory and practice ignited his passion for management research. Now, as a professor, he strives to close the gap by studying and providing practical frameworks to help both future and current employees. Come Fall 2024, Juwon will be sharing his expertise and experiences by teaching Human Resource Management. He is eagerly looking forward to engaging with students and faculty to contribute to our program and community.
